White Pine Winery

About

White Pine Winery is the culmination of a career devoted to producing the best wine grapes and wine's in southwest Michigan. Owner and Winemaker Dr. Dave Miller studied grapevine physiology for his MS and PhD degrees at Michigan State University. Dave worked as the grape and wine research technician at MSU For 12 years before becoming part of the southwest Michigan Wine Industry in 1997. Dave and wife Sandy planted their first vineyard on their land near Lawton in 1999, producing Riesling and Cabernet franc.

White Pine became a reality in 2010 with a tasting room in St Joseph, MI with wine production on the home farm near Lawton. Dave’s philosophy is to let the vineyards express themselves in his wines with as little intervention as possible. He also is a firm believer in using sustainable principles in grape production so vineyard practices use the latest methods to reduce the impact on the environment. Using this approach allows the vines to express the unique qualities of each vineyard site in the wines. White Pine’s goal is to produce wines from Michigan’s Great Southwest to showcase the regions wonderful vineyards.
